Moffitt Cancer Center Names Joey Azar Executive Director of Real Estate and Capital Planning for Speros
Azar brings nearly two decades of experience in real estate investment, development and capital strategy, strengthening Speros’ capacity to deliver complex, capital-intensive projects
TAMPA, FL (April 22, 2025) — Moffitt Cancer Center and Speros, the 775-acre global innovation and cancer care campus in Pasco County developed by Moffitt, announced today that Joey Azar has joined the organization as Executive Director of Real Estate and Capital Planning. In this role, Azar will guide the strategic planning and development of Speros, overseeing everything from site and building design to capital planning and construction. He will ensure the campus supports Moffitt’s long-term clinical, research and institutional goals.

Azar brings extensive experience across real estate acquisitions, development and construction, with a portfolio exceeding $1 billion. He co-founded Boaz Ventures, leading debt and equity structuring for more than $135 million in financing and delivering major mixed-use and student housing projects. Previously, he served as managing director of Shannon Waltchack Neighborhood Centers, building an $88 million portfolio across nine Southeastern markets, and as a member of Harbert Management’s institutional U.S. real estate team, underwriting over $350 million in acquisitions.
He began his career in construction and development before moving into private equity and development leadership roles. Azar earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business.
